Incubator Pod Session 2

Goals and Legacy Agenda

Session Outcomes

  • An increased understanding of your own career goals and/or legacy
  • Receive feedback/support/ideas on your goals
  • Give feedback/support/ideas on goals for others in the group
  • Grow relationships with the individuals that make up this group

Choose a group member to facilitate today’s discussion (preferably someone who did not lead the last session).  Choose another group member to serve as a timekeeper, in order to make sure that everyone has an opportunity to share during the session.

10 minutes:
Icebreaker.  Everyone is invited to share one or two positive things that have come out of the pandemic for you.

Rest of the time:
Sharing.  Divide up the amount of time evenly between the number of people in the group and share something about your career goals and/or legacy.  For the person sharing, this is an opportunity to make these goals more real by saying them out loud to your peers.  It may help to tell the group how you would like them to support you (i.e., encouragement, brainstorming, feedback, etc.).  For the rest of the group, this is an opportunity to listen fully, to get to know your peers, and to offer the type of support that is requested.   Some suggestions for sharing below:

  • Share one (or more) of your goals with the group that you would like input on
  • Share a goal that you are most enthusiastic about
  • Reflect on your legacy
  • If you are having trouble coming up with goals, share what makes you most excited about your work and welcome brainstorming/ideas from the group

Final 5 minutes:
Wrap up.  Offer gratitude to the group for listening, sharing, supporting.  The next meeting will be in 2 months (January) - please use this time to decide on a date/time for that meeting and designate someone to communicate this information to Michelle Lifto.

*You will receive a brief survey about this small group session (which can also be found on the website –  link above). We would very much appreciate it if you could please take a few minutes to complete it.  Your feedback will be used to help guide future sessions and is much appreciated.
